Stand in the Rain.

I have a confession I have realized about myself: I find myself praying for God to stretch me, grow me and make me live radically for Him, while at the same time, any time I am put in a difficult situation or a place of uncertainty, I pray that God just fixes it!

I want to stretch myself, but the second I am pushed to where I feel the least bit of pain, I beg to go back to my old position!

Basically, I want the miracle without the suffering.

I want the pretty rainbow without the rain.

My heart desires to live without fear but only when I am in a comfortable position that doesn’t require me to be fearless!

It seems rather contradictory, doesn’t it?

Looking back on the times that I have been the most pleased with myself and my obedience towards God were those times that I was in the midst of a hardship. Those times when I felt like my world was crumbling? I held onto the one person I knew had plenty of rescuing experience: Jesus!

People always are impressed by testimonies that show the redemption qualities of our King. Those extreme stories where your mouth drops and you can’t believe that person is alive to tell their story!

The people listening want to tell the story but not experience the pain that led to that life-changing grace.

People hear pastors or motivational speakers talk about their faith and they say, “‘MAN, I want a faith like that!”

They want the perspective of a servant but are afraid to be put on their knees in surrender to their King.

I think this is true for most of us. We crave having a deep relationship with the father but we prefer that is remains on our terms, stays in our comfort zone and allows us to feel stable.

I think we need to re-evaluate.

Now don’t get me wrong, I certainly don’t think Jesus wants us to have to be face down in a bottomless pit before we go to grab His hand.

BUT I do think He desires for us to be stretched beyond what we believe we are capable of in our own strength, because then His STRENGTH is absolutely unmissable.

To the point where you go… Yep, only Jesus could’ve done that.

So, if you’re praying for a deeper and greater faith, be ready to move out of your comfort zone.

If you desire that vibrant rainbow, CHOOSE to focus on His faithfulness, no matter how thick the storm becomes.

Wanna go deep? Wanna dig into Him? Wanna show the world the incredible savior that is our God?

Be willing to stand in the rain and be washed by it, not just pray you find a way not to get wet.

LOVE you guys! Praying for your day!
